Creating Futures was funded by the New Zealand Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST) from 2006-2010 under contract ENVW0601 to the Waikato Regional Council. Council provided additional funding and administrative support for the project and Landcare Research NZ Ltd funded early WISE development as part of the Sustainable Futures Waikato Capability Fund project. The Waikato Regional Council provides funding support for WISE through its Long Term Council plan 2009 - 2019.
